Frequently Asked Questions
What does WSIB cost the employers of Ontario?
In 2009 the total benefit costs were $4.736 Billion compared to $4.258 Billion in 2008. Including administrative expenses, the WSIB paid out a total of $5.345 Billion in 2009 while their 2009 revenue was $3.220 Billion.
Who pays for the WSIB?
Most people would answer the taxpayers of Ontario. Why? Because “worker’s comp” is seen as key piece of protection for the workers of this province and something so important must be paid for by our taxes, right?
Well, actually no. The entire workplace safety and insurance system (including Provincial Safety Associations and Ministry of Labour Inspectors) receives no funding at all from any government – all costs are borne by Ontario employers.
When should I start thinking about getting my employee back to work?
You should have a "remain-at-work" and a "return-to-work" strategy in place before an accident occurs.. Let Injury Management Solutions assess your workplace risk factors, and develop stat-at and return-to-work plans as a "just in case" strategy before any incident.
